Chile is one of my favorite countries for vacation because it has a wide variety of adventure travel attractions to enjoy. It is a stable country, and has the highest Human Development Index (HDI) in Latin America, placed in the category of “very high human development.” Also, it has a well-developed transport and telecommunication infrastructure and lots of exciting places to go and activities to do. Santiago, its capital, is a modern and cosmopolitan city. Not to mention, the wines are great, and the food is incredible.
Regarding sport and adventure it is not different: perfect waves for surfing, top skiing and snowboarding resorts, hiking in such a privileged environment, as Patagonia, and much more. There are so many places where you can practice your favorite sport and have fun. One, in particular, is a terrific place for a holiday: Pucon. The town of Pucon is located 780km south of Santiago, by a lake and a volcano called Villarrica. The airport is in Temuco that is 100km distant (there are flights Santiago-Pucon only in the summer). Pucon attracts tourists all year round been most popular among Chileans during the summer. Whether traveling with friends, a family trip or a romantic holiday, there are activities for everyone.
Enjoy the beautiful hiking trails in Huerquehue National Park and swimming in its crystalline lakes. There are a couple of rafting options. The Lake Villarrica is a top attraction where you can go for a ride in a SUP board, sailing, swimming or just relax on the beach.
Skiing and Snowboarding in Volcan Villarrica
During winter times the Ski Pucon Resort in Volcan Villarrica is the place to be. Just 20 minutes away from the town it has a complete infrastructure for skiing and snowboarding. Besides, the view of Lake Villarrica is outstanding. Take some time to enjoy one of the thermal baths in Pucon area.
There are good hotels options. The Lake Chalet on Hotel Antumalal is perfect for a family vacation. There are also excellent restaurants in the town. Try the Parrilla Uruguaya with an excellent Chilean wine to recharge your energy after a day full of activities.
